Toronto police have identified the two young men who tragically lost their lives in a double shooting in the Riverdale area earlier this week.
The incident took place on April 15 around 11:15 p.m. near Bain and Logan avenues, close to Withrow Park.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals—now named as 18-year-old Quentin Caza and 20-year-old Jeremy McNeil—who were both suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the other was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
Investigative images from the location reveal an extensive presence of police tape and numerous evidence markers surrounding a vehicle that bore multiple bullet holes. During initial inquiries, Det. Sgt. Al Bartlett from the homicide unit refrained from disclosing specific details regarding the victims’ location at the time of the shooting, referencing a “vehicle of interest” in the ongoing investigation.
Bartlett has yet to confirm whether law enforcement considers the shooting to be a targeted act or an ambush. “I perceive from the firearms evidence that the shots appear to be grouped closely,” he stated. “This could imply targeting. It does not seem to be a random act, but I must be cautious in my use of terms like ‘target’ or ‘ambush’ at this early stage.”
Currently, police have limited suspect details, describing the individuals sought as two males between five foot five and five foot eight inches tall, dressed in dark clothing. Witnesses reported that the suspects were last seen fleeing towards Withrow Park.
Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to reach out to them as the investigation continues.
