Kashika Kapoor Opens Up About Challenges Prior to Her Breakthrough in ‘Ayushmati Geeta Matric Pass’

Kashika Kapoor endured more than 150 rejections before her film debut.

In a revealing account that has stirred conversations within the film industry, actress Kashika Kapoor has shared the struggles she faced on her journey to stardom. At just 22 years old, Kapoor’s entry into the cinematic world through the film Ayushmati Geeta Matric Pass has captured significant attention, not only for her compelling performance but also for the harrowing experiences she faced prior to her success.

Kapoor’s performance in her debut film has been met with acclaim, positioning her as a promising talent in the industry. However, her path to this opportunity was fraught with challenges that many aspiring actors encounter but rarely discuss openly.

In a frank discussion, Kapoor recounted the extensive journey to securing her first role, which included over 150 auditions that all resulted in rejection. Beyond the emotional toll of these repeated setbacks, she faced unsettling experiences that highlighted the continued prevalence of exploitative behaviors in Bollywood.

“There was a moment when a director called me at 3 am and said, ‘I’ll give you work, but you have to sleep with me,’” Kapoor disclosed. “I always said no, thinking that years down the road, I want to look back at myself without feeling ashamed.” Her statements shine a light on the difficult choices many young actors must confront as they pursue their dreams in an industry marred by issues of power imbalance and misconduct.

Kapoor further elaborated on the inappropriate propositions from casting professionals, expressing her astonishment at the audacity of such interactions. “They used to contact me late at night, suggesting roles in exchange for favors unrelated to my talent. It baffled me – do these individuals not have any decency?” she remarked, her disbelief still evident in her voice.

Despite the challenges, Kapoor’s resilience has been bolstered by her mother’s unwavering support. “My mother always encouraged me to persevere. The strength I possess today largely comes from her teachings,” she shared.

Reflecting on her nascent career, Kapoor feels grateful to have debuted in a project that spotlighted her abilities instead of demanding any personal compromise, indicating a hopeful outlook for her future in the industry.
