Joe Gatto, a former star of “Impractical Jokers,” has publicly addressed allegations of sexual assault made by a TikTok user.
In his statement to Fox News Digital, Gatto expressed his remorse, acknowledging past mistakes that have hurt those close to him. He emphasized, “Anyone who knows me well knows that I would never assault anyone. I am committed to working on myself and will be stepping back from the public eye to focus on necessary personal growth.”
On March 20, a TikTok user named joozyb posted a series of videos claiming she was sexually assaulted by Gatto during an interaction following a performance in Wisconsin in September 2023. The individual, who alleged she was 19 at the time, shared that they had begun exchanging messages on Instagram.
In her video, she recounted feeling uncomfortable as their conversation progressed, stating, “I was drunk, whatever, and he was texting me all this stuff. It started to get a little weird, you know.” She went on to assert that Gatto invited her to his hotel room, where an encounter took place.
In a concerning post on TikTok, joozyb marked her claim with a bold statement, saying, “Yes he did S.A me. yes he had JUST gotten back together with his wife.” This assertion sparked significant discussions online.
Gatto’s Departure from “Impractical Jokers”
In 2021, Gatto announced his departure from “Impractical Jokers,” citing personal challenges that necessitated a break from his role on the show. He said, “I have devoted a decade of my life to building this franchise and couldn’t be prouder of what has been accomplished. However, I need to focus on being the best father and co-parent to our two incredible kids.” Gatto had separate from his wife, Bessy, in 2021 but the couple later reconciled in 2023.
Gatto reflected on the importance of his relationships with co-stars James S. Murray, Brian ‘Q’ Quinn, and Sal Vulcano, noting that these friendships have been among the most significant in his life. These four men have been friends since high school and co-created “Impractical Jokers,” which debuted in 2011 on TruTV as a hidden camera comedy show.
In his farewell message, Gatto expressed gratitude towards fans, stating, “Thank you for allowing me to make you laugh with Jokers. Seeing you laugh has been my own medicine, particularly in these weird and difficult times.” He promised to explore new avenues for entertainment in the future as he navigates his current challenges.
