Imran Khan reveals Karan Johar’s influence on his image transformation for “I Hate Luv Storys”
Imran Khan discusses how filmmaker Karan Johar played a pivotal role in transforming his on-screen persona ahead of the release of “I Hate Luv Storys.”
In a recent interview, actor Imran Khan reflected on the strategies employed by Karan Johar to revamp his image for the romantic comedy directed by Punit Malhotra, where he starred alongside Sonam Kapoor. Imran mentioned a prior photoshoot during which Karan aimed to craft a look that embodied an effortlessly appealing character, particularly as he portrayed a flirtatious role. After a successful career, Imran eventually stepped back from acting to prioritize his mental well-being.
Discussing the transformation during the Moments of Silence podcast, Imran disclosed, “Karan was intent on enhancing my appeal. While I generally maintain my weight, I was particularly attentive to my diet and fitness regimen for the movie. Karan was keen to capitalize on this and we explored various photoshoots, including some topless sessions.”
In a previous interview from 2010 with IANS, Imran elaborated on the specifics of his look for “I Hate Luv Storys.” He indicated that Karan had a clear vision for his appearance, wanting a sexy flair to complement his role as a womanizer. Imran noted, “Karan places great emphasis on the visual aspect. He insisted that my wardrobe fit perfectly and that I embody an effortlessly attractive vibe.”
During the same conversation, Imran shared insights on his relationship with girlfriend Lekha Washington. He revealed, “We were part of a mutual friend group, and her previous partner was an old friend of mine. Our circles naturally overlapped.” He also talked about their cohabitation, explaining his minimalist approach contrasted with Lekha’s penchant for collecting items she finds beautiful. “For the first couple of years, we maintained separate homes, but since merging our living spaces this past year, we’ve been navigating the balance between my minimalism and her love for interesting objects,” he explained.
Looking ahead, Imran Khan is speculated to be returning to acting after a decade, with a new role in a Netflix film directed by Danish Aslam.
