Early returns from Manitoba are coming in as Canadians engage in the 2025 federal election, following a campaign that has spanned about a month.
Initial projections by CBC News indicate that Conservative candidate Dan Mazier has secured re-election in the Riding Mountain area of rural Manitoba, establishing a significant lead over his Liberal opponent, Terry Hayward. This marks the first announced result from the province.
Results are beginning to emerge for nearly all of Manitoba’s 14 electoral districts.
Moreover, CBC News has projected that the Liberals will take the reins of government in Canada.
This projection came shortly after polls closed across most regions, around 9 p.m. CT, just over thirty minutes after the end of voting.

Manitoba’s electoral landscape is likely to change, with at least two new Members of Parliament set to represent the region in Ottawa. Incumbent candidates from the Brandon-Souris and St. Boniface-St. Vital ridings have opted not to run for re-election.
Before the election, the Conservatives held seven seats in Manitoba, while the Liberals and NDP held four and three seats, respectively.
As voting day approached, candidates and their supporters were actively campaigning. In Winnipeg West, supporters of Conservative incumbent Marty Morantz engaged in last-minute efforts, displaying signs at the bustling intersection of Portage Avenue and Moray Street as polls prepared to close.

The enthusiasm among Morantz’s supporters was palpable, as they waved signs in support of the incumbent candidate as voting came to a close.
