President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are attending three inaugural presidential balls to commemorate his 2025 inauguration on Monday evening: the Liberty Ball, the Commander-in-Chief Ball, and the Starlight Ball.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Trump delivered several speeches and signed various executive orders, including one granting clemency to individuals affiliated with the January 6 events. Further orders focused on immigration policies and outlined his intention to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement. Following these activities, he was scheduled to make brief remarks at each of the celebrated events.
Commander-in-Chief Ball
The first event was the Commander-in-Chief Ball, designed to honor military service members. Mr. Trump and the First Lady were welcomed to the stage, where they danced to “An American Trilogy,” performed by Elvis Presley.
Mr. Trump addressed the enthusiastic audience, stating, “I’ve had no higher privilege in life than to serve as your commander in chief, not once but twice.” He acknowledged the Space Force and thanked military personnel, whom he regarded as some of his strongest supporters.
The Commander-in-Chief Ball featured performances by the country music band Rascal Flatts and singer Parker McCollum. Pete Hegseth, nominated by Mr. Trump to lead the Defense Department, was spotted interacting with attendees at the event, held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
Prominent attendees included actor Jon Voight, who Mr. Trump named as one of his “Special Ambassadors to Hollywood,” as well as musicians Kid Rock and Billy Ray Cyrus, both of whom also performed.
Liberty Ball
The Liberty Ball catered to President Trump’s supporters, with attendees capturing memories against a gray backdrop featuring the logo of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, reminiscent of Mr. Trump’s mug shot related to accusations of attempting to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia—a claim he has continuously denied, asserting the charges are politically driven.
Renowned country singer Jason Aldean was set to perform and shared with “CBS Mornings” that he had known the president for several years, having spent time together during New Year’s celebrations and on the golf course. Aldean expressed his desire to participate in any capacity once Mr. Trump was elected.
Additionally, rapper Nelly expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to perform at the Liberty Ball, referring to it as an honor. The Village People, a group known for their presence at Trump rallies, were also part of the entertainment lineup.
Starlight Ball
For the final event, the Starlight Ball, country singer Gavin DeGraw was scheduled to perform for major donors to the president.
Guests including podcaster and comedian Theo Von were seen arriving at the Starlight Inaugural Ball, further diversifying the event’s guest list.
