Concerns Emerge Over Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra Paint Peeling

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra has only recently hit the market, yet reports of dissatisfaction have already surfaced regarding paint peeling on the device’s back. A particular user highlighted this issue on Reddit, as shared by Android Authority. The reported damage includes chips to the surface coating on the underside of the watch, occurring without any rigorous use such as workouts or exercise routines.

This concern appears to be echoed by at least one other Reddit user who has experienced the same issue. Interestingly, reports suggest that the problem may be confined to the gray variant of the Galaxy Watch Ultra, as the other color options—white and silver—do not seem to exhibit similar flaws.

At this stage, accounts of the peeling issue remain minimal, and in a positive response, Samsung support has replaced the affected unit. Users who have recently acquired the Galaxy Watch Ultra might consider inspecting their devices to ensure they are not experiencing the same surface degradation.

Quality Check

As for our initial experience with the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, we did not observe any paint chipping or peeling. In our assessment, we described it as “probably Samsung’s best watch yet,” and we plan to closely track wear and tear as we continue testing the device.

For the Galaxy Watch Ultra to secure its place among the top smartwatches, durability is a key factor; it should retain its finish well beyond just a few days of use. Notably, this paint issue has not been reported with competing products like the Apple Watch Ultra 2, which underscores the importance of quality control for this new premium offering.

Samsung has demonstrated confidence in its new smartwatch, even showcasing images of the device’s internal components along with detailed explanations of its circuitry. These visuals provide insight into the technology and craftsmanship that go into creating the watch.

As of now, Samsung has yet to release an official statement addressing the paint peeling concern. However, we will continue to monitor developments and provide updates if further information arises. Additionally, other recent devices such as the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch FE have been launched without reported issues.
