Meta Launches New Video Editing App Amidst Competition
In light of the recent bans on well-known applications in the United States, including TikTok and the ByteDance video editing app CapCut, Meta has swiftly introduced a new video editing solution called Edits. This development aims to attract creators looking for a robust editing platform.
Currently available for pre-order in the US App Store, Edits is set to launch next month. Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, has confirmed that an Android version of the app is also on the way, widening its accessibility for users across different devices.
The Edits app is designed to help users create and modify vertical videos that can be shared across various social media platforms. For those choosing to upload their content to Instagram, Edits will offer real-time insights into video performance metrics, enhancing user engagement through its integration with Instagram Reels.
Among its features, Edits includes an inspiration tab and a host of familiar tools that will appeal to content creators, such as green screen capabilities, video overlays, caption generation, and voiceovers. Additionally, the integration of an AI animation feature allows users to animate images, adding a dynamic touch to their videos.
Moreover, Edits offers comprehensive camera settings to customize resolution, framerate, dynamic range, flash, and zoom, providing creators with control over their video quality. Collaboration tools are also available, facilitating draft sharing among creators pursuing joint projects.
