JetBlue Launches First Premium Credit Card to Enhance Travel Experience

JetBlue has taken a significant step toward attracting premium travelers by unveiling its inaugural premium credit card, the JetBlue Premier World Elite Mastercard. This move aligns with the airline’s strategy to expand its services and offerings aimed at a more upscale leisure market.

This new credit card, issued in partnership with Barclays, comes with an annual fee of $499, making it the most expensive card in JetBlue’s cobranded portfolio. As an enticing incentive for new applicants, the card offers a generous bonus of 70,000 points and five elite-qualifying Mosaic tiles when users spend $5,000 within the first three months of opening their account.

The JetBlue Premier card is tailored for frequent flyers and business travelers, providing an opportunity for users to advance their elite status and secure preferred seating. Cardholders will gain access to exclusive lounges at JetBlue’s upcoming locations at New York’s JFK and Boston Logan International Airport—set to open later this year. Furthermore, a Priority Pass membership is included, enabling entry to over 1,500 airport lounges globally.

To further justify the premium pricing, JetBlue has introduced various exclusive benefits with this card. Noteworthy additions include a credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck applications and priority boarding with Group A. A unique feature is an annual statement credit of up to $300 for purchases made through Paisly, JetBlue’s travel booking platform, which encompasses hotels, car rentals, and activities linked to travelers’ flights. Cardholders are eligible for a $50 credit for qualifying transactions of $250 or more, up to six times each calendar year.

Additionally, the JetBlue Premier card retains several valuable benefits already found in JetBlue’s other credit card offerings, including:

  • 6x points on purchases made with JetBlue, Paisly, and JetBlue Vacations
  • 2x points on dining and grocery purchases
  • 1x point on all other transaction types
  • A free first checked bag on all JetBlue flights
  • 5,000 bonus points awarded annually on account anniversary
  • 10% of points redeemed credited back after a JetBlue award flight
  • 50% discount on in-flight food and beverage purchases
  • No foreign transaction fees

Chris Buckner, JetBlue’s vice president of loyalty and partnerships, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, stating, “Adding products and perks our customers want is a key part of our JetForward plan, and we couldn’t be more excited to introduce the JetBlue Premier Card. As our first-ever premium credit card, designed with input from our customers and most loyal Mosaic members, it builds on the perks of our TrueBlue and Mosaic programs to deliver more benefits both on the ground and in the air.”

Alongside the JetBlue Premier card, the airline’s credit card lineup with Barclays includes three other options: the no-annual-fee JetBlue Card and the JetBlue Plus Card and JetBlue Business Card, both of which come with a $99 annual fee. While these alternatives provide several similar benefits to the Premier card, they lack exclusive features such as lounge access, application fee credits for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck, and elite status credits as part of the sign-up bonus.
