Vaibhav Suryavanshi Makes T20 History with Century

In a groundbreaking achievement, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi of the Rajasthan Royals has etched his name in cricket history as the youngest batter to score a century in men’s T20 cricket. This remarkable feat took place during a recent match where he showcased his remarkable talent and potential.

Suryavanshi reached the three-figure mark in a blistering fashion, needing just 35 balls, marking it as the second-fastest century in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. Impressively, it is the quickest century recorded by an Indian player to date.

The left-handed sensation displayed his aggressive batting style by smashing an impressive tally of seven fours and 11 sixes before being bowled out for a remarkable 101 runs off just 38 balls. His performance was crucial in guiding the Royals to an emphatic eight-wicket victory over the Gujarat Titans.

Having turned 14 only last month, Suryavanshi was signed during last year’s auction for a substantial £103,789 (1.1 crore rupees). He made history earlier in April by becoming the youngest player to participate in the IPL and immediately made his mark by hitting his first ball for six.

In the match held in Jaipur, Suryavanshi’s explosive batting helped Rajasthan chase down a challenging target of 210 runs with relative ease. He formed a remarkable partnership of 166 runs with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who finished the game unbeaten on 70 runs from 40 deliveries, contributing to a stunning display of power hitting.

His impactful century was achieved in the 11th over of the innings, where a massive strike over deep mid-wicket sealed the milestone. Only the legendary Chris Gayle, who scored a 30-ball century for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Pune Warriors in 2013, has reached such a benchmark faster in IPL history.

This victory was significant for the Rajasthan Royals, breaking a streak of five consecutive losses and keeping their slim hopes of reaching the knockout stages alive. On the other side, the Gujarat Titans had contributions from Shubman Gill, who scored 84 off 50 balls, alongside former England captain Jos Buttler, who added a half-century in a losing effort. Following this defeat, Gujarat fell to third place in the IPL standings based on net run rate.
