At Coachella this weekend, the Irish hip-hop group Kneecap electrified the audience with their fervent call for Palestinian rights, drawing chants of “Free Palestine.” This appearance came just a week after their previous performance at the festival faced disruptions due to similar controversial messaging.
Originating from West Belfast, Northern Ireland, Kneecap took to the stage on Saturday during the second weekend of the renowned music festival in Southern California. Their set was underscored by bold visuals that included the stark declaration: “Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people.”
During the performance, frontman Mo Chara, who is recognized for his dynamic blending of the Irish and English languages, rallied the crowd to join him in chanting “Free Palestine.”
Mo Chara addressed the American audience at Coachella, stating, “The young people of America don’t support genocide; get out on the streets and show this to that cunt Trump.” He shared this sentiment on social media, along with a video capturing the moment. pic.twitter.com/fExyAn7GA6

According to a report from the Times of Israel, Kneecap’s performance the previous weekend was abruptly halted, preventing them from conveying their message. However, this time, the band successfully broadcast their stance to thousands in attendance, sharing video and images from their impactful performance.
