Kieran Offord Joins Linfield from St Mirren
Kieran Offord has transitioned from Scottish Premiership club St Mirren to Irish Premiership leaders Linfield for an undisclosed transfer fee.
The 20-year-old forward was in demand, having fended off competition from Belfast rivals Glentoran, ultimately securing his move to Linfield. This shift comes after Offord was recalled by St Mirren from a season-long loan at Crusaders.
During his stint with Crusaders, Offord made a notable impact, scoring 10 goals across 21 league matches and adding another four in five cup appearances. His performance indicates a promising aptitude for goal-scoring in competitive football.
David Healy, manager of Linfield, expressed his enthusiasm about Offord’s signing on the club’s official website. “We are thrilled to welcome Kieran to Linfield,” Healy stated. “He is a player we have been tracking for a number of months, and we believe he has the ability to add more quality to the squad in this crucial period.” He emphasized Offord’s successful track record at Crusaders, highlighting the striker’s potential to excel further under Linfield’s guidance.
Healy also acknowledged the efforts of the club’s recruitment team in facilitating the deal, specifically thanking Willie McKeown for his diligence throughout the application process.
Before his loan to Crusaders, Offord had made 14 senior appearances for St Mirren and also gained experience through previous loans to Scottish clubs, including Stirling Albion, Alloa Athletic, and Edinburgh City.
Offord’s agent, Phil Korklin, remarked on the decision to join Linfield, stating, “Once we spoke to Willie McKeown and David Healy, we felt this was the club for Kieran to take the next step in his career.” This move presents an exciting new chapter for the young forward as he aims to enhance his skills and contributions in the Irish Premiership.
