Vikrant Massey’s retirement announcement sparks speculation. Harshvardhan Rane hopes it’s just a PR move.
Vikrant Massey’s recent announcement regarding his retirement has left Harshvardhan Rane feeling disheartened.
On Monday, Vikrant Massey surprised both his fans and the film industry by declaring his intention to retire from acting. This unexpected move created a stir across social media platforms, with many left questioning whether he was taking a temporary hiatus or making a permanent departure from the cinematic world. Among those reacting was Harshvardhan Rane, who starred alongside Massey in the 2021 Netflix film, Haseen Dillruba.
Harshvardhan expressed his hopes that this announcement was simply a “PR activity,” likening it to a previous incident involving Aamir Khan. He told Bollywood Bubble, “He is a man with a clear and centered thought process. I respect his work ethic and have a lot of admiration for his acting, particularly during the shoot of Haseen Dillruba. I hope he chooses to return to filmmaking, just like Aamir Khan did after a similar announcement. Artists like these are vital to our cinema, and I’m hoping this is just a PR move instigated by some filmmaker.”
In his Instagram post, Vikrant elaborated on his decision to step back from the industry, sharing, “Hello, The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realize it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a husband, father, and son. And also as an actor. So in 2025, we will meet for one last time. Until the time is right. The last two movies and many years of memories. Thank you once again for everything and everything in between. Forever indebted.”
Interestingly, Massey’s retirement coincides with the premiere of Zero Se Restart, a documentary focusing on the creation of his well-received film, 12th Fail. This documentary is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 13, with its trailer debuting on December 3. This timing has led some fans and online commentators to speculate that his retirement announcement might serve as a strategic promotional tactic to generate interest in the documentary, which is directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
