On January 26, 2025, tensions escalated following Israel’s accusations against Hamas for disrupting a delicate ceasefire. The claims arose after Hamas allegedly altered the sequence of hostages released, prompting Israel to halt the return of thousands of Palestinians to their homes in the northern Gaza Strip.
Israel reported that Arbel Yehoud, a civilian hostage, was expected to be released before four soldiers who were freed on the previous day on Saturday.

In a separate statement, a high-ranking official from Hamas dismissed U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal for the temporary resettlement of most of Gaza’s population in neighboring countries, such as Egypt and Jordan, asserting that Palestinians would never agree to such arrangements aimed at relocation.
The ongoing conflict was sparked by an attack on October 7, when Hamas militants killed approximately 1,200 individuals, predominantly civilians, and captured around 250 hostages. In response, Israel launched military operations in Gaza, leading to the tragic deaths of over 47,000 Palestinians, including more than half being women and children, according to data from Gaza’s Health Ministry.
As this situation continues to unfold, the international community watches closely, hoping for a resolution that addresses the humanitarian crisis and leads to lasting peace in the region.
