Donald Trump’s Inauguration Relocated Indoors Due to Severe Weather
The upcoming inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump has been officially moved indoors, a decision prompted by forecasts of “dangerously cold temperatures.”
The ceremony will now occur in the Capitol Rotunda, a significant adjustment considering the anticipated frigid weather conditions.
Trump expressed his commitment to public safety via a post on Truth Social, stating, “It is my obligation to protect the People of our Country but, before we even begin, we have to think of the Inauguration itself.”
Weather predictions for Monday suggest the coldest inauguration in four decades, with severe cold and strong winds expected. This Arctic blast poses considerable risks not only to attendees but also to the large presence of law enforcement and first responders.
Trump further elaborated on the risks associated with the severe cold, stating, “I don’t want to see people hurt, or injured, in any way. It is dangerous conditions for the tens of thousands of Law Enforcement, First Responders, Police K9s and even horses, and hundreds of thousands of supporters that will be outside for many hours on the 20th. (In any event, if you decide to come, dress warmly!).”
The last inauguration conducted indoors was during Ronald Reagan’s ceremony in 1985, when temperatures plummeted to 7 degrees—a record low not seen since for such events.
Following the indoor ceremony, a presidential parade and live viewing of the swearing-in will take place at Capital One Arena, where Trump is expected to join the festivities after the inauguration.
