J.D. Vance Reflects on Dramatic Incident Involving Trump
J.D. Vance, the Republican vice presidential nominee, recounted a striking episode on “The Joe Rogan Experience,” revealing his instinctive reaction following an alarming event in July that nearly claimed the life of former President Donald Trump.
During his interview aired on Thursday, Vance shared his experience upon hearing about the shooting incident in Butler, Pennsylvania, which posed a serious threat to Trump’s safety. Upon seeing a clip online that suggested an attack on the former President, Vance described an immediate sense of panic, believing at first that Trump had been fatally injured after witnessing him being dragged to the ground by Secret Service agents.
Vance’s concern was palpable as he recalled the moment when Trump, after the initial shock, rose to encourage his supporters to “fight.” This display of resilience seemed to come as a relief to Vance, who acted swiftly. He recounted how he rushed to his car with his children, drove home from the mini-golf course they were visiting, and armed himself. “I was ready for a last stand if it came down to it,” he told Rogan.
It’s important to note that at the time of the incident, Vance was not yet the Republican presidential nominee, as the Republican National Convention had not yet taken place. This meant he did not have the benefit of Secret Service protection during that time.
Fortunately for both Trump and his supporters, the former President survived the assassination attempt, which resulted in a thorough inquiry into Secret Service protocols, ultimately leading to the resignation of Chief Kimberly Cheatle.
As Vance and Trump now engage in a tightly contested campaign against Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the political landscape is charged. With Election Day looming just five days away, observers are keen to see whether Vance will transition from his role in Congress to a position in the Vice President’s office should they succeed.
