The lyrics resonate with a sense of empowerment: “I was stuck like a stone/ Down in the nether ’til you came along,” Black passionately delivers, encapsulating a journey from isolation to liberation. The song builds to an exhilarating chorus, calling for creativity and resilience against challenges, punctuated by Black’s powerful vocal energy.
The track features a formidable lineup of musical talent. Drumming on the high-energy recording is Dave Grohl, renowned frontman of the Foo Fighters, who lays down a thunderous beat. The song is co-produced by Andrew Wyatt and includes contributions from notable musicians such as Troy Van Leeuwen of Queens of the Stone Age on guitar, and Roger Manning from Jellyfish on keyboards. Additionally, Danielle Brooks, Black’s co-star in the film, adds her voice to the background harmonies while Mark Ronson handles bass and rhythm guitar duties.
The anthem reaches its climax with the powerful lyrics, “Found the love/ I’m dreaming of/ Yes now I’m never ever looking back/ ‘Cause I feel alive.” Directed by Jared Hess of Napoleon Dynamite fame, A Minecraft Movie features a star-studded cast including Jason Momoa, Brooks, Jennifer Coolidge, Sebastian Hansen, and Emma Myers, promising to deliver both humor and action.
In addition to his musical endeavors, Black is set to host an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live alongside musical guests Elton John and Brandi Carlile on April 5, adding another exciting chapter to his dynamic career.
