Jack Quaid and Amber Midthunder Discuss Their Latest Film “Novocaine”
In a recent interview with “Extra,” actors Jack Quaid and Amber Midthunder spoke about their roles in the upcoming action-thriller, “Novocaine.”
Quaid portrays a unique character who possesses a rare inability to feel physical pain, transforming this challenging condition into an unforeseen asset as he embarks on a journey to rescue his love interest, played by Midthunder, after her abduction.
Reflecting on his character’s journey, Quaid explained, “This film allowed me to play someone who continually faces physical challenges but persists in the face of adversity. He manages to turn his disability into a sort of superpower. I approached the role from an emotional standpoint; this is a very sheltered individual who must maintain distance from the world for his own protection. The narrative revolves around his exploration of the world for the first time, driven by love and the desire to save his relationship.”
The two actors also delved into the film’s intense action sequences, where Quaid often finds himself on the receiving end of the action.
Midthunder humorously remarked, “I was more of a bystander in the action scenes,” while showing empathy for Quaid’s demanding role. She added, “There was a significant period—about three weeks—dedicated to Jack essentially being like John Wick, so I really felt for him during that time.”
Fortunately, Quaid emerged from the physical demands of filming unscathed, stating, “Surprisingly, with the extent of what my character goes through, I did not sustain any injuries. My character definitely took on all the trauma!”
In addition to discussing “Novocaine,” Quaid provided an update on his work with the popular series “The Boys.” He shared, “I’m currently in the midst of filming the fifth and final season of ‘The Boys’ here in Toronto. It’s a bittersweet experience, but we are about halfway through production, and it promises to be fantastic. I’m really going to miss working with everyone.”
As for the conclusion of the series, Quaid expressed optimism, saying, “It’s going to be an incredible final season. I believe it will provide a remarkable payoff for fans.”
Mark your calendars; “Novocaine” is set to premiere on March 14.
