In a remarkable achievement, Jackson Page has etched his name in snooker history by becoming the first player to record two maximum 147 breaks in a single match. This stellar performance earned him an impressive £147,000 Triple Crown bonus, marking a significant milestone as he continues his journey in the World Championship qualifiers.
Competing in Sheffield, the talented Welsh player delivered a commanding 10-2 victory over Allan Taylor. Page highlighted his prowess by executing three half-century clearances and securing a break of 109, establishing a strong 6-1 lead early in the match at the English Institute of Sport.
The moment of perfection came in the eighth frame when he potted all 15 reds, followed by blacks, and then cleared the colors with precision. Following this feat, Page achieved a break of 94 to extend his lead to 8-1, positioning himself just two frames away from clinching the match in the best-of-19 format.
This marks the 21st recorded 147 break in the history of the World Championship, adding to the legacy of maximum breaks, with 14 occurring at the Crucible and seven during qualifying rounds.
Returning on Monday, Page astonishingly managed to score his second maximum of the match, further solidifying his dominance as he secured his spot in the final round of qualifying. He is set to face either Joe O’Connor or Iulian Boiko for a chance to compete at the Crucible.
In addition to making history, Page has also secured a substantial financial reward. The £147,000 bonus is aimed at players who accomplish two 147 breaks across the three Triple Crown events and the Saudi Arabia Masters during the current season.
The qualifying rounds for the World Championship will conclude by April 16, paving the way for the prestigious tournament to kick off just three days later, featuring the defending champion, Kyren Wilson, on the opening day.
