Rishab Shetty to Star in Jai Hanuman, Directed by Prasanth Varma
Rishab Shetty, acclaimed for his role in the Kannada blockbuster Kantara (2022), is set to headline the highly anticipated film Jai Hanuman, as announced by director Prasanth Varma.
The announcement arrived during the Diwali celebrations, accompanied by a first look poster featuring Shetty in a contemplative pose before an idol of Lord Ram in what appears to be an old temple setting. Jai Hanuman marks the continuation of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU) and is produced by Mythri Movie Makers, a studio renowned for producing hits such as Janatha Garage (2016), Rangasthalam (2018), and Pushpa: The Rise (2021).
In a post on X, Prasanth expressed his excitement, saying, “In the spirit of Diwali and the guiding light of the divine, I am honored to be collaborating with National Award-winning actor Rishab Shetty and the esteemed Mythri Movie Makers to realize our ambitious project #JaiHanuman. Let’s embrace this Diwali with the sacred chant JAI HANUMAN and spread it throughout the world.”
Rishab Shetty echoed this excitement on social media, stating, “A vow from the Tretayuga, bound to be fulfilled in the Kaliyuga. We bring forth an epic of loyalty, courage, and devotion. I am extremely happy to join forces with Director @prasanthvarma and Producers @mythriofficial,” while sharing the film’s poster.
Furthermore, the success of Hanu-Man, which was the highest-grossing Telugu film of 2024, achieving over Rs 300 crore, underscores the growing trend of mythological superhero narratives in Indian cinema. This film featured Teja Sajja in a superhero role and is integral to the PVCU, which is pivoted on mythological themes. In addition to Jai Hanuman, Varma is also developing a project focusing on Lord Indra, featuring Mokshagna, the son of veteran actor Nandamuri Balakrishna.
