James Forrest Set to Become Celtic’s Most Decorated Player
As Celtic approaches yet another Scottish Premiership title, winger James Forrest is on track to become the club’s most decorated player. The 33-year-old is poised to add to his impressive collection of achievements, already standing at 25 major honors since his debut in 2010.
A victory in the upcoming title match will see Forrest surpass the legendary Lisbon Lion Bobby Lennox in terms of trophies won with the club. Forrest’s journey began memorably when he scored on his debut against Motherwell, and he has since netted 108 goals across 522 appearances for the Hoops.
“It’s something you don’t really think about when you’re coming through as a young player,” Forrest shared in an interview with Sky Sports News. “There have been so many unforgettable moments over the years, it’s tough to choose a favorite.”
His illustrious career with Celtic includes winning 12 league titles, and the Scotsman emphasized the team’s significance in his achievements, stating, “You want to be part of a successful team, and while personal accolades are nice, the team’s success ultimately matters more. The number of great players who have represented this club is simply unbelievable.”
A Career Spanning Generations
Forrest’s time at Celtic has seen him work under several managers, including Neil Lennon, Ronny Deila, Ange Postecoglou, and Brendan Rodgers. Despite being in the latter stages of his career, Forrest remains committed to the game, expressing no immediate plans to retire. “I’ve played here so many times and I’m still enjoying it as much as ever. I’m just going to keep working hard,” he noted.
He added, “I prefer to focus on enjoying each day rather than setting long-term goals. The highs I’ve experienced have been incredible, and I aim to keep pushing for more.” With a contract extending until the end of next season, Forrest’s aspirations remain clear.
Aiming for More Milestones
Forrest recently returned to play following an injury suffered during Celtic’s League Cup final against Rangers in December. He is now eager to hit a significant milestone by scoring in 16 different seasons. “It’s a target I’ve been discussing with a few people, and I hope to achieve it in the next few matches,” he remarked.
Reflecting on his injury, he said, “Injuries are undoubtedly the toughest part of being a footballer. I experienced a serious one, but having a great team and staff to support you makes a difference.” Grateful for the nurturing environment at Celtic, he is determined to finish the season strong and contribute to the team’s success.
An Inspiring Presence
Forrest’s impact extends beyond the pitch; he recently participated in an event that allowed young fans, randomly selected from the Young Hoops Club, to meet Celtic players including Daizen Maeda, Luke McCowan, and Paulo Bernardo. Such initiatives highlight the connection between players and the club’s young supporters.
With significant milestones within reach and a career that has solidified his place in Celtic’s history, James Forrest continues to inspire both teammates and fans alike.
