Jamie Foxx made a heartfelt return to the stage in Atlanta, where he shared his personal narrative about a significant health scare as part of his one-man show titled “One More Chance: An Evening with Jamie Foxx.” Following the event, he expressed his insights and emotions regarding this life-changing experience.

Foxx took to Instagram to reflect on his experience, writing, “God is good…. As I post these pictures, my heart and my soul is filled with nothing but pure joy…on October 3, 4, and 5, I had an opportunity to tell my side of the story, and there was no better place than Atlanta, Georgia.”

In an affectionate nod to the audience, he remarked, “I have to thank you Atlanta you showed up and you showed out. I haven’t been on stage in 18 years, but I needed the stage and I needed an audience that was made up of nothing but pure love and that’s what you were.”

Foxx elaborated further, stating, “When people ask me if this is a stand-up comedy show, I say no; it’s an artistic explanation of something that went terribly wrong, but thanks to the wonderful people in Atlanta, especially Piedmont Hospital, you enabled me to come back and do what I love the most… #nobaddays as my guy James would say #secondchance thank you, ATLANTA.”

Foxx shared an array of touching images from the event on social media, showcasing moments like him celebrating on stage and sharing the spotlight with his 16-year-old daughter, Anelise. Another image depicted a warm embrace with a member of his team.

Support poured in from his famous friends in the comments section. Busta Rhymes congratulated him, declaring, “Who God bless, no man curse!! CONGRATS @iamjamiefoxx you have truly been missed by so many of us, King. CONGRATS to you as you continue to embark on new and uncharted territory and always know THE BLESSINGS DON’T STOP SO WE WON’T STOP!! Salute, King. ”

Other notable figures chimed in as well, with Jo Koy simply stating, “G.O.A.T.” and Kevin Hart expressing his enthusiasm with, “Love you man!!!!!! Can’t wait to see it .” John Legend echoed this sentiment, saying, “Can’t wait to see it, brother .”

Kandi Burruss emphasized gratitude for his recovery, commenting, “I enjoyed the show! Thank God for giving you a 2nd chance to be here! .” Robin Thicke added, “We all love you! .”

Backstage, post-show, Gayle King engaged Foxx in conversation as he celebrated with his team. He mentioned the challenging preparation for the show, saying, “It was an excruciating time to open those wounds every single day for three months. The worry is what gets you.” He expressed that preparing for a stand-up show typically involves a lengthier period of refinement, but he had to approach this special differently.

Reflecting on the show’s emotional impact, King noted the audience’s laughter mixed with tears, to which Foxx replied, “It is a personal journey, and I am never going to go through this again.” He humorously suggested that his next material would focus on light-hearted “knock knock” jokes.

Foxx concluded by addressing his team, celebrating the show’s success and emphasizing their journey towards a healthier future together.

This past summer, Foxx shed light on the events surrounding his health crisis, recounting a particularly alarming episode. He shared, “Look, April 11 last year. I had a bad headache and asked my friend for an Advil. Next thing I knew, I was gone for 20 days. I don’t remember anything.”

Following that incident, he was admitted to a hospital where doctors began to uncover the seriousness of his condition. “So they told me – I’m in Atlanta – my sister and my daughter took me to the first doctor. They gave me a cortisone shot. The next doctor said, ‘Something’s going on up there,’” gesturing to his head, though he declined to elaborate further in the recorded segment.

Previously, during the AAFCA’s Producer’s Award ceremony on March 3, Foxx expressed the gravity of his health ordeal, emphasizing the importance of cherishing life and acknowledging those who supported him during his recovery. He hinted at sharing more details about his near-death experience in an upcoming comedy special, which he assured would be delivered with humor, as he returns to his stand-up roots.
