Warning: This post contains spoilers for Farmer Wants a Wife.
The third season of Farmer Wants a Wife has certainly presented its leading farmers with numerous challenges.
The episode airing on April 17 showcased Farmers John Sansone, Jay Woods, Matt Warren, and Colton Hendricks as they enjoyed a lively barn dance in Nashville with their prospective partners. The evening was filled with interactions both on the dance floor and off, setting the stage for significant developments.
Kicking off the episode, Samantha, who previously considered leaving the show, took the opportunity to speak with Farmer John. Their conversation became a crucial moment in the episode.
Samantha Makes a Big Decision About Her Future with Farmer John
During their discussion, Samantha expressed admiration for John, calling him “one of the most amazing guys” she had ever met. However, she also revealed feelings of being “overwhelmed” by the experience, which she had assumed would be “extremely easy.”
Samantha ultimately decided to withdraw from the competition, explaining that she felt there were “little things” preventing her from being the partner John needed. “I think I’m what you want, but you are very much someone who likes to be in the driver’s seat and so am I. I think you need someone that’s going to let you lead,” she told him. John responded appreciatively, noting that he enjoyed having her presence, as it felt like they were on the same wavelength.
Despite her departure, John shifted his attention to the three remaining contestants, feeling that Samantha had been holding him back from forming deeper connections. Reflecting on his relationship with her, John stated that there were “definitely some interesting turns” before her exit, describing it as an intriguing journey. “I thought she was like a challenge because I feel like she was testing my words,” he commented.
Farmer Matt Looks Back on Rachel’s Shocking Exit — and Allegations
Meanwhile, Farmer Matt, 30, took time to reflect on the recent turmoil surrounding Rachel’s exit from the competition. This followed her accusations of him sneaking around with fellow competitor Halleh, 29.
“Suspicions kind of rumored around about Halleh and I,” Matt shared. “It’s been awful. That’s not how I wanted things to go.” He expressed a desire for the experience to be positive, not just for himself but for all the women involved, emphasizing the need to move past the drama.
Farmer Jay Investigates Drama Amongst His Daters
In another part of the episode, Farmer Jay Woods, 25, noticed distress from dater T’yana, 23, prompting him to step in during a discussion with Karina, also 23. T’yana was visibly upset, sharing her feelings of exclusion among the other contestants. She expressed that she felt overlooked and said the situation reminded her of being left out in high school.
T’yana revealed that accusations had been made against her by other women, stating she had called them a “clique” and referred to Julia, 22, in derogatory terms. In a heartfelt conversation with Jay, T’yana conveyed her longing for inclusion, further indicating she sensed Jay’s other daters distancing themselves from her.
Jay reassured T’yana, acknowledging her feelings as valid and encouraging her to focus on her purpose in the competition: to get to know him better. Despite some feelings of unease, T’yana pressed on, looking for reassurance from Jay, who expressed his genuine interest in her.
Solo Dates Are Announced — and Colton’s Date, in Particular, Proved to Be a Game-Changer
As the barn dance concluded, host Kimberly Williams-Paisley announced that each farmer would select a lady for a special solo date. John chose Kaylee, 25; Jay picked Karina, 23; Matt selected Alex, 29; while Colton opted for Zoe, 22.
Colton’s date with Zoe stood out prominently. After a meaningful exchange at the barn dance about her aspirations in anesthesiology, Colton was impressed with her determination. He commended Zoe for her intelligence and offered his full support as she considered her career path.
The date took them through Colton’s hometown, leading to deeper discussions about their future. Zoe appreciated the small-town atmosphere of Mena, Arkansas, contrasting it with the hustle of her life in Sarasota, Florida. Colton probed whether she could see herself moving to Mena if their relationship progressed.
To his delight, Zoe expressed her openness to change, indicating that she could envision a future there, which excited Colton. Their conversation flowed naturally, culminating in a mutual appreciation that made Colton forget to initiate a kiss, which he had done on prior dates. “Honestly, I loved talking to her more than anything. I just can’t stop smiling thinking about her; she’s great,” he remarked.
New episodes of Farmer Wants a Wife are broadcast on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on FOX.
