Jeff Bezos Sells Seattle Mansion for Record $63 Million

Following his move to Miami, Jeff Bezos has begun to divest himself of some of his properties in Seattle. The Amazon founder, who took up residence on Florida’s affluent Indian Creek Island in 2023, has successfully sold his mansion in Hunts Point, Washington, for an impressive $63 million, as reported by the Seattle Times. This transaction sets a new record as the highest price ever paid for a home in the state of Washington.

This is not the first instance of this waterfront property breaking price records. Bezos originally acquired the home from art collector Barney Ebsworth’s estate in 2019 for $37.5 million, making it the most expensive home in Washington at that time.

The mansion, featuring three bedrooms and four bathrooms, is situated on a sprawling 3.27-acre lot with 300 feet of picturesque Lake Washington waterfront. Neighbors informed Business Insider that Bezos frequently utilized the residence during his visits to the area, which architect Jim Olson designed as “An American Place.” This notable structure, completed in 2003, was designed specifically to house Ebsworth’s extensive art collection, which includes masterpieces from notable artists like Edward Hopper, Georgia O’Keeffe, Willem de Kooning, and Jackson Pollock.

The architectural design emphasizes the connection between the home and its natural surroundings, featuring a gallery wing, advanced climate control systems, and an abundance of floor-to-ceiling glass that allows natural light to permeate the interior. The architect articulated that the design intention was to blend the exquisite art collection with the serene outdoor landscape seamlessly, as highlighted by the Seattle Times.

Among the many appealing aspects of the property are its distinctive features, which include a glass walkway that connects the main house to a two-story guesthouse, a glass shower with views of a walled Japanese garden, a flat roof partially adorned with sod and native plants, and a rooftop deck complete with a fireplace.
