Jeff Daniels, a renowned Tony Award nominee, is set to join the ensemble of the popular Apple TV+ comedy series Shrinking. According to a report from Deadline, Daniels will guest star in the third season as the father of the protagonist, Jimmy, portrayed by Jason Segel.
This engagement marks a noteworthy return to comedy for Daniels, who has recently been recognized for his impactful performances in serious roles, such as in The Newsroom, The Comey Rule, and theatrical hits like Bluebird and To Kill a Mockingbird. Currently, the filming of Shrinking’s third season is taking place in the Pasadena and Altadena regions of Los Angeles County, an area that has recently experienced devastating wildfires.
Shrinking centers around a therapist, played by Segel, who, in the wake of his own grief, begins to break conventional therapeutic boundaries by expressing his true thoughts to clients. This radical approach sparks significant transformations in the lives of those around him, including his own. The show features a diverse cast that includes Harrison Ford, Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, Brett Goldstein, and Ted McGinley.
