Fans to Shape the Future of Survivor’s 50th Season
Jeff Probst revealed on Saturday that the upcoming Survivor 50 will carry the subtitle In the Hands of the Fans, indicating a significant shift in how the popular reality series engages with its audience.
During a special premiere event for Survivor 48 held at Chelsea Factory in New York City, Probst, the acclaimed host with four Emmy Awards, announced that viewers will have a unique opportunity to influence various critical aspects of the milestone 50th season, scheduled to debut in February 2026. Fans will weigh in on three key issues:
- “Idols or No Idols?”
- “Final Four Fire-Making: Keep It or Lose It?”
- “Live Finale and Reunion Show in L.A. — or Keep the Winner Reveal and Aftershow in the Jungles of Fiji?”
The interactive voting process kicks off on February 26, coinciding with the premiere of Survivor 48. Participants can cast their votes on CBS in multiple rounds regarding these significant game elements. This voting will conclude before filming begins this summer, ensuring that returning contestants remain unaware of fan decisions until they find themselves in the competitive environment in Fiji.
A similar fan-driven initiative took place prior to Survivor: Second Chance (Season 31), which allowed the audience to select 20 players from 32 candidates to return to the game. Firefighter Jeremy Collins emerged as the winner of that season and was last seen competing in Season 3 of The Traitors.
Moreover, in an effort to celebrate 25 years of Survivor, CBS has partnered with Fiji Airways to grant five fortunate fan “tribes” — groups of friends and family — the chance to travel to Fiji and witness the filming of Survivor 50. The initiative aims to recognize the show’s dedicated viewership over the years.
Probst expressed his excitement regarding this fan interaction, stating, “From the very first season, Survivor has been evolving. Now, for our 50th season, it’s time for the next evolution. Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans is unlike anything we’ve done before. For the first time ever, our loyal fans will take control — deciding key elements of the game, from twists to idols to advantages. I can’t wait to see what the fans choose for our returning players!”
The new logo for Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans was unveiled, featuring a design reminiscent of the original logo from Season 1: Borneo, symbolizing the long-standing legacy of the series.
The announced packages for the five winning “tribes” encompass:
- Roundtrip airfare via Fiji Airways and local transportation for each member.
- Four nights of stay at a luxurious ocean-front resort.
- Opportunities to engage with the rich Fijian culture while visiting local attractions.
- A VIP tour of the Survivor Islands, including access to tribal council and challenge locations, a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the filming process for Season 50, and a meet-and-greet with Jeff Probst. While winners will not appear on television, their experiences will be documented for promotional purposes. More information can be found [here](https://gf.fan/cbs/survivorfanfiji).
