Jelly Roll Visits Antioch High School After Tragedy

The country music artist recently returned to his former high school in Tennessee to connect with students and staff in the wake of a tragic incident.

Earlier this week, Jelly Roll visited Antioch High School, the site of a recent fatal shooting that claimed two lives, including that of a 17-year-old student. The tragic event unfolded in the school cafeteria, resulting in injuries to two other individuals as well. This visit marks his second trip to the school following the incident.

During this visit, Jelly Roll engaged warmly with students, capturing numerous photos and selfies, as shared in a recent Instagram post by Metro Nashville Public Schools. Details about his discussions with the school community remain undisclosed, but the atmosphere was reportedly filled with an uplifting spirit.

As highlighted by Billboard, Jelly Roll stands out as one of the few notable alumni of Antioch High, among other distinguished individuals like former Senator Thom Tillis and rapper Yelawolf. His previous visit in May 2024 was dedicated to supporting music students and the Save the Music Foundation, where he also performed and interacted with former educators.

Jelly Roll’s commitment to community service has been consistent; he often visits local jails while on tour, seeking to inspire and uplift individuals. Recently, he made headlines when he invited participants from Virginia’s Chesterfield County Jail Helping Addicts Recover Progressively program to perform with him during his concert at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville.

One participant, Kevin, spoke about the profound impact Jelly Roll’s encouragement had on his recovery journey, stating, “Jelly Roll giving us that opportunity, it just opened my eyes to the possibilities if I keep my recovery first.”

In addition to his philanthropic efforts, Jelly Roll performed at the FireAid benefit concert in Los Angeles on January 30, which aimed to support the region’s recovery from the recent wildfires. His song “I Am Not Okay” from the acclaimed album Beautifully Broken has received nominations for Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance at the upcoming 2025 Grammy Awards.
