Jen Affleck, who shares a surname with Oscar-winning actor Ben Affleck, has sparked curiosity about their potential familial link. In a recent interview with Bustle, Jen, a star of the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, revealed that she and her husband, Zac, are currently exploring whether they are indeed related to the famed actor, following speculation regarding her claims from Season 1 of the show.

At MCoBeauty’s National Dupe Day event in Salt Lake City, Jen discussed her family’s connection to the Affleck lineage. While she admitted uncertainty about the nature of the relationship, she expressed a keen interest in uncovering the truth.

“We’ve discussed it,” she shared. “We haven’t consulted a genealogist yet, but that’s definitely on the agenda.”

Jen also elaborated on how Zac’s family has spoken about their potential connection to the Afflecks. “This information was passed down from his grandpa, and he has grown up with those stories, but it’s not like they have a personal relationship with him,” she noted.

“We’re Big On Family History”

During the event, Jen emphasized the significance of family history within Mormon culture. “In our community, we place a strong emphasis on genealogy, so it’s quite common for us Mormons to find connections with others,” she said. “I’ve always viewed it that way, but I’d love to clarify—if they are indeed second cousins, I would be thrilled to meet them.”

In the first season of the popular reality series, Jen suggested that Zac’s father, Dave Affleck, might be a first cousin to Ben and his brother, Casey. If validated, this connection would position Zac as Ben’s first cousin once removed.

A Funny Coincidence

Interestingly, at the time of filming, Ben Affleck was married to Jennifer Lopez, who also adopted the Affleck surname, similar to Jen’s choice after marrying Zac. Both women share the middle name Lynn, making both Jen and Lopez ‘Jennifer Lynn Affleck’ prior to Lopez’s divorce filing in August 2024.

Shortly after the premiere of the show’s first season in September 2024, People reported that a source indicated the Afflecks from Utah and the Boston-based clan might not be related at all. As the speculation continues, viewers and fans alike are left wondering if Season 2 of the Hulu series, set to debut on May 15, will shed light on this intriguing family mystery.
