Jennifer Aniston Addresses Flight Anxiety and Travel Habits

Actress Jennifer Aniston, known for her roles in films and television, recently opened up about her profound fear of flying in an interview with Travel & Leisure. This candid discussion highlights not only her anxiety but also the strategies she has employed over the years to cope with it. Aniston’s comments shed light on the struggles many face with travel fears, even those in the public eye.

Describing her dream vacation as one featuring “a white sandy beach and clear, crystal-blue water,” reminiscent of her experience in Just Go With It, Aniston admitted that the journey to such idyllic locales can be daunting. She mentioned that in the past, she relied on various superstitions to manage her nerves before flying, such as boarding the plane with her right foot and tapping the exterior with her right hand.

However, Aniston has turned to a different approach recently: hypnosis. She explained to the publication, “I have been doing some hypnosis lately, and one of the requirements is to remove all of those superstitions. I have not been doing the right hand, right foot—and now it’s shockingly good.” This shift signifies her willingness to embrace unconventional methods in tackling her fears.

Once aboard, Aniston incorporates calming techniques into her routine, including walking around and stretching to alleviate anxiety, alongside engaging in meditation, which she finds to be beneficial during flights. Her proactive approach to managing stress during travel may serve as a useful guide for others facing similar challenges.

The The Morning Show actress also discussed her dream travel destinations: Japan and the Maldives. Reflecting on past experiences, she recounted a particularly distressing flight emergency that occurred in 2019 alongside her Friends co-star Courteney Cox. Aniston recalled a terrifying moment when an explosion sound filled the cabin, which was later revealed to be related to a wheel’s debris on the runway. This incident only intensified her existing fears about flying.

As panic set in during that flight, Aniston vividly described the scene: passengers were sending texts to their loved ones while the uncertainty left her feeling increasingly uneasy. This experience is relatable for many who struggle with anxiety in high-pressure situations, especially when traveling.

Despite finding ways to cope with her flying anxiety, Aniston confessed to grappling with another challenge: packing efficiently for trips. She humorously identified herself as an “over-packer,” admitting that the unpredictability of travel moods often leads her to bring more items than necessary. Interestingly, this tendency has garnered gratitude from friends, who enjoy the array of clothing options available during their vacations together.

In her candid revelations, Aniston illustrates that, despite fame and success, personal anxieties and challenges in travel are common human experiences. Her methods of coping with fear and anxiety may inspire others facing similar hurdles as they navigate their journeys.
