Inside Jeopardy! Transitions to Monthly Format
Significant changes are on the horizon for Inside Jeopardy! as the podcast has declared a shift from its current weekly release schedule to a monthly format. This announcement was made on March 10, following a successful post-season that cohost Sarah Whitcomb-Foss described as “phenomenal.”
“We just wrapped up the post-season, which has been phenomenal,” Whitcomb-Foss stated. “With that, we’re transitioning to a monthly cadence for the podcast, but rest assured, we will still keep you updated with any special announcements and interviews.”
Listeners are encouraged to follow the podcast’s social media channels to stay informed about the release dates of each monthly episode.
Whitcomb-Foss co-hosts the podcast with Michael Davies, the co-executive producer. Occasionally, Sam Buttrey, a fan-favorite contestant, joins them as a cohost. Buttrey took over the host role in September 2024 after Buzzy Cohen’s departure. However, concerns have been raised by fans regarding Buttrey’s future on the podcast due to the announcement of the new monthly schedule.
Some fans took to Reddit to voice their worries. One user questioned, “They announced they’re going to an irregular monthly schedule with no mention of Sam. Are they unceremoniously dropping him? I enjoyed it more when it was weekly with Buzzy and Sarah.”
Another fan expressed disappointment, suggesting the new schedule seemed like a “cop out,” and mentioned, “There are still five episodes a week to recap, and I’m sure Sam and Buzzy would do it if Sarah feels too busy. I was quite disappointed to hear this yesterday.”
Concerns were also shared regarding the pacing of the show: “Since the new season started, the show has felt rushed and has lacked the gameplay insights Buzzy provided. That’s not to say Sam isn’t great. Perhaps they could consider having both Sam and Buzzy run the podcast,” remarked another listener.
In contrast, a different viewer acknowledged that they had not kept up with the podcast recently, suggesting that the transition to a monthly format might reflect a need to adjust around production challenges: “I imagine they were not getting the ratings to justify a weekly show.”
One YouTube commenter added, “With the new monthly cadence, you’ll be discussing episodes that some viewers may have forgotten about three to four weeks later.” Meanwhile, others remain hopeful, with one stating, “Great show, guys – see you in April!”
This upcoming April, Whitcomb-Foss and Davies are set to take the podcast on the road to Washington, D.C. They plan to record episodes live and invite special guests, with interactive events scheduled at local colleges and universities. Ken Jennings is expected to host a unique game during these live recordings.
As of now, ticket sales have not commenced, and the lineup of additional guests remains unannounced. In the past year, notable personalities like nine-game champion Isaac Hirsch and Jeopardy! writer Marcus Brown participated in the tour.
