Tributes Pour In for Jiggly Caliente Following Her Passing
Jiggly Caliente, a celebrated figure from RuPaul’s Drag Race, has sadly passed away at the age of 44.
In a heartfelt Instagram statement, her family announced, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Bianca Castro-Arabejo, known to the world and cherished by many as Jiggly Caliente.” They shared that she “passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, at 4:42 am, surrounded by her loving family and close friends.”
While the cause of death has not been disclosed, her family informed followers on April 24 that Caliente was hospitalized due to a serious infection that led to the amputation of much of her right leg.
“A luminous presence in the worlds of entertainment and advocacy, Jiggly Caliente was celebrated for her infectious energy, fierce wit, and unwavering authenticity,” her family continued. “She touched countless lives through her artistry, activism, and the genuine connection she fostered with fans around the world. Her legacy is one of love, courage, and light.”
Caliente, a Filipino-American performer, came out as transgender in 2016. She gained prominence by placing 8th in Season 4 of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2012 and appearing in RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 6, where she finished 12th in 2021. In 2022, she took on the role of resident judge on Drag Race Philippines.
Moreover, Caliente’s work extended beyond drag competitions as she appeared alongside other Drag Race alumni in the 2020 OUTtv talk show Translation. In a behind-the-scenes interview, she expressed that Translation was dedicated to discussing the experiences of trans women from diverse backgrounds, united by their journeys.
In addition to her contributions to the drag scene, Caliente portrayed the character Veronica Ferocity, a clothing store owner and drag performer, in the acclaimed FX series Pose.
“Though her physical presence is gone, the joy she shared and the space she helped create for so many will remain forever,” her family reflected. “She will be deeply missed, always loved, and eternally remembered. In Loving Memory of Bianca Castro-Arabejo (Jiggly Caliente), November 29, 1980 – April 27, 2025.”
