Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina Star in Highly Anticipated Film “Jigra”
Director Vasan Bala Discusses Script Controversy
Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina are gearing up to captivate audiences in their upcoming action thriller, “Jigra,” which has generated considerable buzz since its announcement. With its theatrical release slated for October 11, director Vasan Bala reflected on a surprising incident regarding the film’s script delivery to Bhatt by renowned filmmaker Karan Johar.
In an interview with Tried and Refused Productions, Bala recounted how he had sent what he described as an informal, stream-of-consciousness email with his thoughts on the film to Johar. He expressed concern when he received a call a few hours later from Johar, who informed him that the script had already been forwarded to Bhatt without any prior edits. “I was really not happy with it,” Bala admitted, noting the lack of a thorough review, including spell checks or polished presentation of the hero’s introduction.
Despite the initial script concerns, Alia Bhatt was quick to express her enthusiasm for the film. She reportedly connected with the material almost immediately, citing her affinity for the story’s emotional depth and her character’s protective instincts towards her on-screen brother, portrayed by Raina.
Audience Reactions and Character Dynamics
The chemistry between Bhatt and Raina has already garnered praise ahead of the film’s launch. Following the trailer’s release on social media, Alia’s fans, along with friends and family, provided an outpouring of support and positive feedback. Notably, actress Neetu Kapoor and fellow Bollywood star Janhvi Kapoor contributed enthusiastic comments, the latter endearingly referring to Alia as ‘Lady Bachchan.’
Bhatt’s Personal Connection to the Film
In a previous interview with The Indian Express, Alia Bhatt elaborated on her decision to take part in “Jigra.” She explained that her character embarks on a quest to rescue her brother from a foreign prison, reflecting a deep personal connection to the story. “When ‘Jigra’ came to me, I was going through my most tigress, protective phase,” she shared. “It really, really spoke to me. It hit a different chord.” Bhatt insinuated that her journey into motherhood has shifted her perspective, allowing her to relate to the film’s themes on a deeper level.
In addition to her role as the lead, Alia Bhatt has taken on the responsibilities of co-producing “Jigra,” collaborating with Karan Johar on this ambitious project.
