Jimmy Butler’s Miami Problems Resurface After Trade
NBA star Jimmy Butler has made headlines not only for his performance on the court but also for his significant off-court issues. Following his vocal request for a trade from the Miami Heat, Butler has now found himself embroiled in a legal dispute linked to his time in Miami.
Recently traded to the Golden State Warriors, Butler has shown promise with his new team, despite missing a game due to back spasms. However, the situation in Miami is coming back to haunt him. He is facing a lawsuit from Five Star Marketing and Promotions Inc., which alleges that he failed to pay over $250,000 in rent and left approximately $127,000 in damages when he vacated his leased home.
During his six years with the Heat, Butler contributed significantly, including appearances in two NBA Finals. The lawsuit claims that he neglected his obligations by not paying the last two months of rent, changing the home’s locks, and preventing the property owner from accessing the property. This reportedly left maintenance workers unable to perform necessary upkeep.
The damages cited include issues such as mold in the ceilings and floors, attributed to poor maintenance of the air conditioning unit. The property in question is currently valued at around $10 million, according to Realtor.com.
As for his performance with the Warriors, Butler has had a mixed start. The team boasts a 7-1 record with him in the lineup, and he averaged 20 points over his first six games. However, his performance dipped in subsequent games, scoring only six and five points, respectively, as he battled a shooting slump.
Butler has not publicly addressed the lawsuit as of yet, focusing instead on his career with the Warriors, where he is expected to continue making an impact.
