Jimmy Kimmel’s Take on Trump’s Education Plans and Tesla’s Troubles

During a recent episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” the host expressed skepticism regarding Donald Trump’s proposal to dismantle the Department of Education. Kimmel’s monologue highlighted an intriguing connection between this announcement and the U.S.’s positioning in the annual World Happiness Report, where the country recently dropped to 24th place.

“The President seems to think he has a solution for this dismal ranking. They say ignorance is bliss, and that must be why Trump signed an executive order aimed at dismantling the Department of Education. This isn’t a punchline; it’s a real proposal,” Kimmel remarked.

He further noted Trump’s well-known favoritism for the less educated, humorously suggesting, “Now he’s about to create an even larger fan base. In a ceremony held at the White House, a group of children was invited to witness the signing. Kimmel quipped, “It’s like they asked the kids, “Who hates school?” with the enthusiastic response being, ‘We do!’ and in reply, they said, ‘Great news, it’s over!’”

Kimmel elaborated on the implications of Trump’s directive, which encourages states to formulate their own educational guidelines. “For example, kids in Florida might only need to complete a maze on the back of a Fuddruckers menu to earn their high school diploma,” he joked, emphasizing the absurdity of the proposal.

Shifting gears, Kimmel also discussed the ongoing difficulties faced by Tesla, Elon Musk’s automotive company. “This week has not been kind to Tesla. They announced the recall of nearly all 46,000 Cybertrucks, marking the eighth recall since the vehicle’s release in November 2023,” he explained. “To put it in perspective, that’s a staggering eight recalls in just 15 months.”

The monologue included a reference to several Teslas that caught fire at a facility in Las Vegas, with Kimmel noting, “Authorities are now trying to determine which vehicles were accidentally set ablaze and whether any ignited themselves.”
