Jinkx Monsoon Gives a Tour of Her New York City Apartment

Jinkx Monsoon, the star of Pirates! The Penzance Musical, recently offered a glimpse into her living situation within New York City. Humorously noting that her theater work covers her rent, Monsoon welcomed real estate content creator Caleb Simpson into her home.

While showcasing her place, Monsoon quipped, “This isn’t your average New York apartment. It has the flair of someone who’s on Broadway for a few months.”

Monsoon is currently captivating audiences in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s innovative jazz-infused rendition of Pirates! The Penzance Musical.

This production features music by Arthur Sullivan and a libretto by W.S. Gilbert, with an adaptation crafted by Rupert Holmes. The musical’s orchestrations are provided by Joseph Joubert and Daryl Waters, while music direction is under Joseph Joubert. The choreography comes from Warren Carlyle, with Scott Ellis directing the show.

The talented cast of Pirates! The Penzance Musical includes notable names such as Ramin Karimloo as the Pirate King, Jinkx Monsoon playing the role of Ruth, and David Hyde Pierce portraying Gilbert/Major General Stanley. Other cast members feature Nicholas Barasch (Frederic), Preston Truman Boyd (Sullivan/Police Sergeant), and Samantha Williams as Mabel Stanley, along with a diverse ensemble cast.

From the charismatic Major-General to the adventurous Pirate King, the musical offers a delightful mix of characters and storylines that promise to enchant both newcomers and seasoned fans of Gilbert and Sullivan.

Following her historic win as the first two-time champion of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Jinkx Monsoon made headlines when she was announced to join the Broadway cast of Chicago as Mama Morton, becoming the first drag performer to assume a major role in a Broadway musical. Additionally, Monsoon showcased her talent portraying Audrey in the Off-Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors in 2024.
