The Latest from Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber on Their Full House Experience
Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber, known for their roles as Stephanie Tanner and Kimmy Gibbler on the iconic show Full House, recently addressed a recurring and somewhat uncomfortable question they often receive: whether they ever had romantic feelings for their co-star John Stamos.
This topic surfaced during an episode of their How Rude, Tanneritos! podcast. The two reflected on a hypothetical scenario where they had to choose between marrying Stamos’ character, Jesse Katsopolis, or Dave Coulier’s, Joey Gladstone.
Sweetin expressed her discomfort with the question, stating, “This is a weird question to answer. I mean, I wouldn’t marry either one of them because they feel like family, and that’s just strange.”
Barber echoed this sentiment, remarking, “When people in interviews ask, ‘Did you ever have a crush on John Stamos?’ it feels gross. No! They’re like our older brothers; that’s not how we think of them.”
Sweetin further clarified, saying, “Not even older brothers; they’re more like uncles.” Barber added, “There’s nothing remotely attractive about them. They’re just our buddies, and yeah, it’s kind of a weird question.”
Despite their reluctance to entertain romantic notions, the duo did engage with the light-hearted debate of choosing between Joey and Jesse for the comedic challenge it presented.
Barber declared her preference for Joey, joking, “I’d have to go with Joey. Jesse’s a little toxic… but Joey is going to do the Popeye voice every time he kisses you.” Sweetin humorously chimed in, recalling that Joey resides in a basement.
Barber continued to highlight Joey’s appeal, stating, “He doesn’t have the toxic traits of Jesse. He’s not going to run off motorcycle-riding to ‘find himself.’ Instead, he’s just going to entertain with his voices. He’ll do Bullwinkle and all of them.”
The two actresses shared a laugh, playfully imagining Stamos reacting to their discussion with a hint of jealousy. Nevertheless, they concluded that if temperament was the determining factor in their hypothetical choice, they would opt for Gladstone.
Fans of Full House are continually finding nuggets of insight through the How Rude, Tanneritos! podcast. Earlier this year, Barber and Sweetin tackled the show’s oversight regarding Pam Tanner, the deceased mother of the Tanner children, illuminating yet another layer of the beloved series.
