Joey Fatone to Rejoin & Juliet on Broadway
Joey Fatone, a member of the pop group NSYNC, is set to make a return to the Broadway stage in the acclaimed show & Juliet, reprising his role as ‘Lance’ this April. Fatone first stepped into this part on January 21, 2025, with an initial engagement slated to wrap up on March 16, 2025. However, due to popular demand, he will start a new engagement on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, and will remain with the production at the Sondheim Theatre until Thursday, July 31, 2025.
During a brief interlude, from March 18, 2025 to April 20, 2025, the role of ‘Lance’ will be filled by Hayden Tee, an original cast member from & Juliet’s Australian production, known for his performances in Les Miserables and Jekyll & Hyde.
A Fresh Take on Shakespeare’s Classic
& Juliet offers a fresh perspective on one of literature’s most celebrated tales, envisioning a scenario where Juliet takes control of her destiny after a pivotal moment with Romeo. This reimagined narrative embraces themes of love and independence, all set to an energizing soundtrack of well-known pop hits. The musical has earned nine Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, and was crafted by the Emmy-winning writer behind the beloved series “Schitt’s Creek.” The show features a collection of popular songs such as “Since U Been Gone,” “Roar,” “I Want It That Way,” and “Confident,” which serve as the backdrop to Juliet’s journey.
The Current Cast
The Broadway production features a talented ensemble cast, including Maya Boyd as ‘Juliet,’ Alison Luff as ‘Anne,’ Drew Gehling as ‘Shakespeare,’ and Liam Pearce as ‘Romeo.’ They are joined by Michael Iván Carrier as ‘May,’ Jeannette Bayardelle as ‘Angélique,’ and Nathan Levy as ‘François.’ The cast is further supplemented by a group of skilled performers that includes Gabe Amato, Daniel Assetta, and Charli D’Amelio, among others, who are part of the show’s third year on the Broadway circuit.
A Global Phenomenon
By Spring 2025, & Juliet will have captivated audiences in nine countries across four continents since its West End debut in 2019. The inaugural North American tour commenced last fall and is set to visit over 30 cities this year, with an accompanying UK tour that began in July 2024, and a German production scheduled for October 2024. Additionally, a new staging is set to open in December at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto, marking a return to the production’s initial North American venue. The Original Broadway Cast Recording was released in October 2022 by Atlantic Records and is available on various streaming platforms.
