John Abraham’s film, The Diplomat, grossed over Rs 30 crores since its March 14, 2025 release. Despite its success, John is concerned about the Hindi film industry’s direction.
John Abraham recently expressed his thoughts regarding the Hindi film industry’s trajectory following the release of his film, The Diplomat.
The film, which debuted on March 14, 2025, has managed to perform well at the box office, amassing over Rs 30 crores despite a limited promotional campaign. In a recent interview, the actor shared his worries regarding the future of Bollywood and the nature of contemporary filmmaking.
During his discussion about the industry’s content and the increasing critiques emerging on social platforms, Abraham made it clear that he harbors significant concerns. In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, he stated, “It is very, very scary. As someone who looks out for the Hindi film industry, I am very worried. I am not saying that I am the flagbearer of doing something different, but I am saying that there are few of us who want to make a difference.”
He further remarked, “I am a commercial hero! You put me in a commercial setup, and I will hopefully bag it through, but I am saying that when we want to make a difference, we should be allowed and be given the freedom to do that. That final bridge where we get that extra buck to do what we want to, if that comes through then we as an industry can grow. Because we are making good films now and I know every day someone writes an obituary about our industry but we are making good films.”
The Diplomat, featuring a talented cast including Sharib Hashmi, Sadia Khateeb, Kumud Mishra, and Revathy alongside John Abraham, delves into the intricate world of diplomacy set against the backdrop of India-Pakistan relations. Directed by Shivam Nair, the film not only addresses political conflicts but also provides insight into the personal challenges faced by diplomats behind the scenes.
