Actor John Capodice Passes Away at 83

His death was confirmed through an obituary published by the Pizzi Funeral Home in Northvale, New Jersey, on December 30.

According to the obituary, “John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who had the pleasure to meet him.”

Born in Chicago in 1941, Capodice served in the U.S. Army between 1964 and 1966 and participated in the Korean War. After his military service, he embarked on a career in acting during the 1970s, showcasing his talents in an array of television series.

Capodice’s impressive portfolio includes recurring roles in popular shows such as “Ryan’s Hope,” “Diagnosis Murder,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “Law & Order,” “Living Single,” “Melrose Place,” “Ellen,” “Mad About You,” “Boy Meets World,” and “Will & Grace.” His extensive career spanned over 150 projects from 1978 to 2024, highlighting his dedication to the craft.

Fans of “Seinfeld” may particularly remember him from the 1991 episode “The Revenge,” where he portrayed a laundromat owner. In a memorable moment from the episode, Capodice’s character faced accusations of theft, adding a humorous twist to the storyline.

His filmography also includes significant roles in critically acclaimed movies such as “Wall Street,” “Family Business,” “The Doors,” “Speed,” and “Independence Day.” Notably, in “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,” he played a police officer, providing comedic interactions with lead actor Jim Carrey.

He leaves behind his wife, Jane, and two daughters, Tessa De Pierro and Cassandra Hansen. Capodice was also a dedicated grandfather to four beloved grandchildren: David, Jake, Frankie, and Giuliana.
