John Lindley Elected President of the International Cinematographers Guild
John Lindley, known for his work on “Pleasantville,” has been re-elected as president of the International Cinematographers Guild (IATSE 600) as of Tuesday. This marks his return to a role he previously held from 2020 to 2022. He takes over from Baird Benton Steptoe Sr., who was elected in Lindley’s absence three years ago when he chose not to seek re-election.
In a competitive election, Lindley garnered 1,482 votes, while cinematographer Dave Perkal received 685 votes and Steptoe obtained 591 votes. Voter turnout was reported at 35.6% of eligible members.
“This election signifies a pivotal moment for our Guild, and I have full faith that our newly elected leaders will bring the necessary vision, experience, and steadfast dedication to lead Local 600 through these challenging times,” stated Alex Tonisson, National Executive Director of ICG.
Jamie Silverstein, the former national assistant secretary-treasurer, was elected as the National Vice President after running unopposed. Additionally, several national officers were re-elected, including first VP Deborah Lipman, second VP Mark Weingartner, secretary-treasurer Stephen Wong, and sergeant-at-arms Betsy Peoples.
The newly elected officers will serve a three-year term, extending from June 2025 to June 2028. The election outcomes are set to be submitted to the union’s national board for formal approval during its upcoming meeting on June 21.
