Broadway Welcomes ‘John Proctor Is the Villain’
Last night, the cast of Kimberly Belflower’s new production, John Proctor Is the Villain, received a warm reception from fans outside the Booth Theatre after their inaugural performance on Broadway. The production, which features acclaimed ‘Stranger Things’ actress Sadie Sink in a leading role, is directed by Danya Taymor, a Tony Award winner. The official opening night is scheduled for Monday, April 14.
In this compelling narrative, Sadie Sink takes on the character of Shelby Holcomb, supported by a talented ensemble. Nihar Duvvuri plays Mason Adams, while Tony Award winner Gabriel Ebert portrays Carter Smith. The cast also includes Molly Griggs as Bailey Gallagher, Maggie Kuntz as Ivy Watkins, Hagan Oliveras as Lee Turner, Morgan Scott as Nell Shaw, Fina Strazza as Beth Powell, and Amalia Yoo as Raelynn Nix. The production’s understudies consist of Noah Pacht, Fiona Robberson, Shian Tomlinson, Garrett Young, and Victoria Vourkoutiotis, ensuring the performance remains strong throughout its run.
The storyline centers around five dynamic young women whose lives are fueled by pop music, youthful optimism, and an underlying rage as they aim to unearth the uncomfortable truths lurking in their seemingly mundane, one-stoplight town.
