Jonathan Anderson to Lead Dior Menswear Following His Tenure at Loewe
The fashion industry is buzzing with fresh developments as creative director appointments continue to unfold. Recent news confirms Jonathan Anderson’s next professional chapter after his notable eleven-year stint at Loewe. Announced today, Anderson will step into the role of menswear artistic director at Dior, succeeding Kim Jones. His inaugural show is scheduled for June 27 in Paris, a date that is sure to generate significant anticipation within the fashion community.
This announcement follows closely on the heels of Dior’s pre-fall 2025 showcase, set against the picturesque backdrop of cherry blossoms in Kyoto. Our editor in chief had the privilege of attending the event and shared her experiences and insights via an Instagram post. She was joined by a star-studded audience, including notable figures such as Anna Sawai, Lily James, Monica Barbaro, Elle Macpherson, Ai Tominaga, and Makiko Takizawa.
To commemorate Anderson’s new role at Dior, let’s take a moment to reflect on five memorable design moments from his impactful work at Loewe.
Five Standout Jonathan Anderson Designs for Loewe
In 2024, Taylor Russell made an unforgettable impression on the Met Gala red carpet adorned in a bespoke Loewe ensemble highlighted by a striking wooden corset.
This look is undeniably among my all-time favorites from red carpet events, showcasing the innovative spirit that Anderson brought to the brand.
For the Spring/Summer 23 collection, Anderson’s designs featured pixelated patterns reminiscent of gaming aesthetics, particularly evoking the visuals of Minecraft.
While promoting her film Challengers in 2024, Zendaya captivated audiences by donning a sporty Loewe outfit complete with tennis balls integrated into her footwear, merging fashion with playful elements.
Additionally, another one of my favorites from the runway was an exquisite dress inspired by the anthurium flower, symbolizing Anderson’s unique ability to blend art and fashion seamlessly.
