MotoGP Champion Jorge Martin Hospitalized After Pre-Season Crash
MotoGP world champion Jorge Martin is set to undergo surgery following an unfortunate incident during pre-season testing where he sustained injuries to his hand and foot.
The 27-year-old rider from Spain experienced a severe crash at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, resulting in him being thrown from his motorcycle. The impact was significant, as he struck the ground face-first, leading to the destruction of his helmet.
Immediately after the incident, Martin was assessed at the track’s medical center before being transferred to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.
“Jorge Martin has been diagnosed with a right hand fracture and fractures in his left foot,” announced a MotoGP statement. “He has undergone a CT scan and MRI, both of which returned negative for any additional injuries.”
Reports indicate that Martin will remain under hospital care overnight. Following his recovery, he is expected to return to Europe to receive surgical treatment for the fractures in his right hand and left foot.
The incident comes just ahead of the 2025 MotoGP season, which is scheduled to commence in Thailand next month. The first qualifying and sprint races are set for March 1, with the main event taking place on March 2.
