Josh Groban’s Upcoming Album “Gems” Features Unique Conversations with His Younger Self
In an intriguing promotional video for his upcoming compilation album, Josh Groban, a Tony Award nominee, engages in a fictional “interview” with his younger self. While Groban aims to promote his album, his younger counterpart steers the conversation toward lighter topics, from culinary interests to reflections on family.
Set for release on May 2, Groban’s album, titled Gems, offers a curated selection of highlights from his extensive career, comprising 18 tracks. This collection features two new songs, Be Alright and Open Hands. Furthermore, a double vinyl LP version of Gems will become available on June 13, including two additional tracks handpicked by Groban himself: Broken Vow and Remember When It Rained.
The collection showcases noteworthy tracks, such as the triple-Platinum hit You Raise Me Up and the chart-topping Billboard Adult Contemporary song To Where You Are. It also includes the unforgettable track Evermore from the original soundtrack of Beauty and the Beast, along with beloved performances of classic songs like Over The Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz and Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel. Groban also features a duet with Kelly Clarkson on All I Ask of You from The Phantom of the Opera.
Interestingly, the album shares its name with Groban’s upcoming exclusive event, Josh Groban: Gems — Exclusive Las Vegas Engagement, taking place at The Colosseum at Caesars. The singer will perform a special set on select nights: May 9, 10, 14, 16, and 17 in 2025. Tickets for this much-anticipated engagement are available HERE. In addition to this engagement, Groban is set to perform at The Hollywood Bowl for two nights on September 5 and 6, where he will present selections from Gems and other works, accompanied by the LA Philharmonic under the direction of Thomas Wilkins.
Josh Groban made a noteworthy Broadway debut in 2016 as Pierre in Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1912, earning a Tony nomination for his performance. More recently, in the Spring of 2023, he returned to the Broadway stage in the eagerly awaited revival of Sweeney Todd, where his portrayal of the titular character garnered both Tony and Grammy nominations, as well as widespread acclaim.
