Junaid Khan Opens Up About His Relationship with Imran Khan and Anticipates the Release of Loveyapa
Junaid Khan is eagerly awaiting the premiere of his upcoming film, Loveyapa.
The Family Connection: Junaid and Imran Khan
Junaid Khan enjoys a close familial bond with his first cousin, Imran Khan. When Imran embarked on his acting journey with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Junaid was just 15 years old. Despite their age similarity, Junaid explains that he and Imran seldom discuss the intricacies of the film industry or acting techniques. Nevertheless, he holds Imran in high regard, admiring his experience in films such as I Hate Luv Storys and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.
Affectionately praising Imran, Junaid stated, “He’s about ten years older than me. I don’t engage in film discussions much at home, especially with Imran. He’s a fountain of knowledge and can converse on almost any topic. When we chat, it’s often about other subjects rather than films.” Notably, Imran has maintained a good relationship with Junaid’s family, attending a prayer meeting for Junaid’s mother, Reena Dutta, in October 2024.
Shifts in Family Conversations
Previously, when speaking about family dynamics, Imran mentioned how discussions have changed over time, emphasizing mental health support. “In recent years, our family has engaged in deeper conversations about mental well-being, especially with Ira (Khan) advocating for mental health awareness. Each time we gather, we touch on topics of consciousness and healthy habits,” he shared.
Preparing for Loveyapa
As for Junaid’s current focus, he is excited about his role in Loveyapa, which also features Khushi Kapoor. Although this marks his second acting endeavor, it is his first major release. When asked if the mixed reactions from his debut impacted him, Junaid responded, “I don’t believe so. Not everyone will appreciate the same things. I found joy in this film, which is why I chose to participate. This is actually the third film I worked on, and I’m trying not to feel overwhelmed by expectations. Every actor has unique strengths and areas for growth that we continually explore.”
Discussing his preparation for portraying a Punjabi-speaking Delhiite, Junaid explained, “We had around five or six weeks of rehearsal. While Delhi is a metropolitan city similar to Mumbai, the cultural differences are significant. Fortunately, my maternal heritage is Punjabi, and I have a large extended family in Delhi, which helped me immerse into the role. The script provided substantial context, and I drew valuable insights from my director, Advait Chandan, who consistently elicits outstanding performances from actors, regardless of their experience level.”
