Junaid Khan Discusses Cinema, Family, and Upcoming Film ‘Loveyapa’

Junaid Khan, the son of the renowned Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, is navigating his way through the cinematic landscape with his upcoming film, ‘Loveyapa.’ As he prepares for this significant milestone—theatrical release of his first film—Junaid shares insights about his experiences in the film industry and his relationships with family members.

Exploring His Cinematic Path

At 30, Junaid made his acting debut with a Netflix production, and now he is gearing up for a more expansive reach with ‘Loveyapa.’ In recent interviews, he has expressed enthusiasm about promoting the film alongside his co-star Khushi Kapoor. Interestingly, Junaid prefers engaging in cinematic discussions with Boney Kapoor, the father of his co-star, rather than his father, Aamir.

A Unique Bond

During his exchanges with Boney Kapoor, Junaid has found a kindred spirit. He describes the veteran producer as a well of knowledge and storytelling, saying, “I love hanging out with him. I can talk to him for hours. He has the most incredible stories and nearly 50 years of experience in the industry.” This perspective leads to a candid and amusing admission: Junaid feels more at ease discussing film matters with Boney than with Aamir.

“I’d rather sit with Boney uncle,” he shared. “Of course, my father is like an encyclopedia. He knows a lot about a wide range of subjects. But as they say, ghar ki murgi dal barabar (we often undervalue what is familiar to us).” This light-hearted comment reflects Junaid’s unique appreciation for both mentors.

Aamir Khan’s Support

Despite Junaid’s preference, Aamir has actively supported his son’s endeavors, particularly during the promotional phases for ‘Loveyapa.’ The film, directed by Advait Chandan, also saw Aamir participating in events such as the trailer launch and an appearance on the popular reality show Bigg Boss alongside Junaid and Khushi Kapoor. Additionally, he is involved as a producer for Junaid’s next project, which stars actress Sai Pallavi—an indication of Aamir’s commitment to his son’s growth in the film industry.

‘Loveyapa’: A Look at Gen-Z Relationships

‘Loveyapa’ offers a modern perspective on romance, particularly highlighting the dynamics of Gen-Z relationships. The narrative features a comedic twist involving a challenge devised by the protagonists’ parents, necessitating that Gaurav and Baani exchange their phones for a day. This unusual experiment is designed to test their trust ahead of a potential marriage.

The film’s ensemble cast includes Grusha Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana, Tanvika Parlikar, Kiku Sharda, and Kunj Anand. With the backing of Phantom Studios and AGS Entertainment, ‘Loveyapa’ is slated for a worldwide release by Zee Studios on February 7, 2025, promising to resonate with younger audiences navigating similar themes in today’s digital age.
