The sounds of Bobby Darin resonate at the Circle in the Square Theatre, where Just in Time has proudly marked its opening night.
“As the show captures, Bobby Darin’s deepest connection was with his audience,” remarked Tony Award-winning actor Jonathan Groff during the debut performance. “Alex [Timbers] has crafted a unique setting that truly fosters a bond with the audience. The intimacy and affection flowing through that space is unlike anything I’ve encountered before.”
With direction by the Tony Award-winning Alex Timbers, Just in Time invites attendees to delve into the life of the celebrated American performer, showcasing his remarkable journey filled with both triumph and adversity, as portrayed by Groff and a talented ensemble of 11 actors, all accompanied by a live band performing Darin’s classics, including “Beyond the Sea,” “Splish Splash,” “Dream Lover,” and “Mack the Knife.”
Joining Groff on stage are a diverse cast including Gracie Lawrence, Erika Henningsen, Michele Pawk, Joe Barbara, Emily Bergl, Lance Roberts, Caesar Samayoa, Christine Cornish, Julia Grondin, Valeria Yamin, John Treacy Egan, Tari Kelly, Matt Magnusson, Khori Michelle Petinaud, and Larkin Reilly.
Erika Henningsen expressed the unique experience it provides, saying, “I’ve never had an experience quite like this, where the audience is so close. It’s invigorating and allows for genuine connections with theatre lovers who are here to witness this story, which isn’t something I get to encounter often.”
