Justine Bateman Celebrates Shift in Political Climate Following Trump’s Victory

Actress and director Justine Bateman expressed her enthusiasm for Donald Trump’s recent victory in the 2024 election during an interview with Fox News’ Jesse Watters. Rather than aligning with those dismayed by the outcome, Bateman conveyed a sense of optimism, asserting that Trump’s win signifies the end of what she describes as the “woke era.”

Bateman articulated her views on the end of political correctness and “mob mentality” that she believes have dominated discourse in recent years. “You need that mob mentality momentum to threaten people who don’t align with your views,” she stated. “Trump’s victory effectively dismantled that momentum, signaling that this woke era is finished.”

Watters nodded in agreement, humorously commenting that the left appears fractured and engaged in internal disputes, which he deemed a positive development. He further probed Bateman on the permanence of this cultural shift, asking if she believes that cancel culture and political correctness are relics of the past.

In response, Bateman drew parallels to historical examples of mob mentality, referencing phenomena like the Dutch “tulip mania” and the Salem witch trials. She indicated that a sustained sense of collective outrage is necessary for such movements to thrive, and its absence is a sign of change. “Yes, things have changed politically, but there’s also a spiritual dimension to this shift,” she noted.

Bateman believes that this “spiritual shift” began with significant changes on social media platforms, particularly after Elon Musk acquired Twitter and rebranded it as X, coinciding with Trump’s electoral victory. “You can feel it; there’s definitely a change in the air,” she remarked.

As the conversation progressed, Watters and Bateman discussed the stagnation they perceive in various fields due to perceived limitations on free expression over the past several years. Bateman pointed out that this suppression has impeded innovation and progress across diverse sectors, including the arts, politics, and medicine. “The last four years have felt like a downward pressure on creativity and expression, and now I believe we’re seeing a release,” she elaborated.

Expressing her anticipation for future possibilities, Bateman highlighted the importance of allowing creative thoughts and spiritual inspiration to flow freely. “I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time,” she concluded, emphasizing her excitement about the potential for renewed growth in various spheres of society.

In a brief moment of reflection, she reiterated her stance on the significance of this political shift, stating, “When Trump won the presidency again, that cut that momentum off. So this whole woke era is over.”

Despite her focus on these themes, it’s worth noting that Bateman has been a vocal critic of the implications of artificial intelligence in creative industries and a staunch advocate for union rights. Nevertheless, her interview did not delve into how her positions contrast with those of Trump, Musk, and Watters on these critical issues.
