Twitch streamer Kai Cenat has addressed allegations made by Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel, who accused Cenat’s friends, Rakai and Reggie, of engaging in viewbotting. This accusation has sparked a public dispute between the two prominent figures in the streaming community.
Viewbotting refers to the unethical practice of artificially inflating viewer numbers on streaming platforms to increase a streamer’s visibility or perceived popularity. This practice has plagued Twitch for some time, with various streamers caught in the crosshairs, either as perpetrators or victims.
On April 9, xQc alleged that Rakai and Reggie had managed to boost their viewership from approximately 800 to 30,000 in a very short period, simultaneously noting a significant drop in chat activity that suggested artificial engagement. His remarks were pointed, as he expressed skepticism about the sudden growth, stating, “I’ve been here before, I’m not stupid, they’re botted out the wazoo.”
Kai responds to xQc’s viewbotting claims
While xQc indicated that he does not believe Cenat is involved in any wrongdoing, he did not show hesitance in voicing his concerns. In response, Cenat defended his friends, stating that he feels frustrated by the situation. He remarked that while he usually takes the high road, he is now compelled to confront the allegations. Cenat asserted, “From the outside perspective, Felix, this is not no diss or nothing, it just looks like you’re d*ck eating, and it’s weird.”
He continued by clarifying his stance on the matter and expressing his desire to hold people accountable when they make statements that he believes are misguided. Additionally, he mentioned that Reggie might not even be familiar with xQc, emphasizing the disconnect between the two streamers.
xQc doubles down on viewbotting claims
Following Cenat’s defense, xQc reiterated his position, stating that he could choose to step back from the controversy but felt it necessary to stand firmly by his claims. He emphasized, “I’m doubling down, I have to. I swear on everything, with what I know and things that I look at and analyze, I’m not just saying it, I truly believe it.”
xQc maintained that there are various possibilities regarding the source of manipulation, mentioning it could involve anyone from a viewer to an agency or even individuals using dubious methods. He underlined the seriousness of the issue, suggesting that someone is likely tampering with the view counts.
This heightened back-and-forth has led to a division among fans, with some noting the support Cenat has provided to both Rakai and Reggie through raids and promotion. It also highlights xQc’s ongoing concerns about viewbotting within the community, as he has previously criticized similar actions, labeling them as harmful.
