Kamala Harris to Address the Nation Following Trump’s Election Victory
Kamala Harris is preparing to give her first address to the nation since Donald Trump was declared the winner, becoming the 47th President of the United States. This significant moment will be live-streamed by TMZ, focusing on Harris’ official concession speech.
The address is scheduled to take place at Howard University, where Harris completed her studies, at 4 PM ET / 1 PM PT on Wednesday. This follows her absence from an election night speech, which many anticipated would celebrate her electoral win or at least encourage patience while votes were still being tallied. As it turns out, Trump secured victory earlier that night.
Earlier today, Harris extended her congratulations to Trump, acknowledging his landmark achievement. Following suit, President Joe Biden also reached out to Trump today, offering his congratulations and reportedly inviting him to the White House for a visit on Thursday. Biden is expected to deliver a national address during that time as well.
Harris’ journey through the Democratic campaign has been marked by significant twists and turns since its inception in August, which followed Biden’s decision not to seek a second term.
She gained momentum early on, bolstered by endorsements from various high-profile celebrities, including Taylor Swift, Cardi B, Ariana Grande, among others.
Harris has long been a pioneer, and her candidacy had the potential to make history as she aimed to become the first woman, the first Black woman, and the first person of South Asian descent to assume the presidency. On the flip side, Trump’s election marks a historic occurrence as he becomes only the second president in U.S. history to be elected to non-consecutive terms and as the first convicted felon to secure an electoral victory.
